Why are we here?
The mission of Defensores del Chaco is to create spaces to create meeting places between the different members of the community to recover neighborhood identity and to promote the development of the community.
How we are going achieve it
Defensores have different work areas, like Sports, Art, Health, Access to Justice and Education in order to achieve our objectives.
Our place in the World
The geographic area of incidence of Defensores del Chaco is the Norwest of Great Buenos Aires (GBA), mainly Moreno, José C. Paz and Malvinas Argentinas departments. This area is one of the most impoverished of GBA, in which the critical situation had more than 11 years. It means that entire generations had not access to the formal labor market, to the educative system neither to health services.
Paso del Rey, where the Foundation has the facilities, 250 thousand inhabitants live there, distributed in 15 neighborhoods. There you can find:
- Only three primary and secondary schools.
- Only 7 health centers;
- Just one public Hospital for all the Moreno Department.
This situation of social exclusion produces the degradation of social development spaces: the family, the neighborhood, the community, the schools, being children and adolescents the most affected people.
